Berberlin

The mission

The two founders Julia and Walid are not only united by their family of five − but also by their love for the hospitable Amazigh culture and spaces from Walid’s home country of Tunisia. This gave rise to their joint company Berberlin, founded in 2016, which designs Berber rugs, has them produced in Morocco and Tunisia, and sells them in its own store and online. Based on a strong social media strategy and high authenticity, Berberlin quickly became successful. The desire was to take the company to the next level with more flexible production, a broadening of the range through collaborations with artist friends, professional structures and motivating goals. Arntz & Beckmann was hired as consultants to support the implementation.

The journey

At the beginning of the joint journey, a detailed analysis of the current situation was carried out, which provided a deeper understanding of the figures, strengths and weaknesses. A target picture was derived from this, which determined the strategy for the coming years. The production structures were rethought in order to better achieve the desired flexibility and quality. Processes were reviewed and improved. Sales were optimized with a new website, modern e-commerce technologies and better procedures. The house bank financed the expansion of the structures and the warehouse.

The result

The growth process has revitalized the company, with the modernization push creating new potential at all levels. The previous bottlenecks have been systematically eliminated and new sources of income established. The loan has created the freedom to optimize production and the product range. What we are particularly pleased about is that the Berberlin team was able to develop a new understanding and a positive view of the topic of finance through the joint work.
